Playing it in the store, I was impressed enough to make the purchase. Thanks everyone! Hoping to hear from some of the Veteran owners I have seen on some of the other discussions about these amps.Although Mesa first released its Roadster series of amp heads and combos in 2006, it wasn’t until 2008 that I finally tried one. Of course, I also recommend giving the Royalist a whirl before you buy!įinally, if you can stand the wait, Mark Bartel (Tone King founder, designed the aforementioned amps) has a new line of amps coming out Late Spring-ish. If you're using humbuckers, definitely go for one of the 40w models, or the Sky King. Get which ever one you think is cooler, you shouldn't have any issue with volume. My suggestion would be to get an extension cab that you can use to help fill a room if you're not using a microphone.Įven that's getting too involved for a lot of places. I wasn't drowned out by any stretch.ĭirection/speaker focus is going to be your biggest enemy if you're un-mic'ed. However, I played with a drummer who had an acoustic kit, plus a keyboard player, 2 acoustic guitars, and a bass player, last October, and had my Hot plate running at -12db on my Comet. To answer your question, my regular band's drummer has Roland V Drums, so our stage volume is a little lower than the norm.

(riffmeister, dana olsen, motokev, bikedude) Thanks everyone! Hoping to hear from some of the Veteran owners I have seen on some of the other discussions about these amps. I guess basically what I am asking is when do they start to break up and how loud do they let you really get before you get into OD? Do you think the 20watts is enough for that tone style or should I go with the louder Metro for a bit more mileage on the clean volume? I don't like to push the amp into dirt which only leaves me a fraction of the volume knob to work with. I play a LOT of clean sounds and my concern is that if I go imperial I will get drowned out when gigging with drums and bass. There is also a galaxy out there right now but that seems like it would be way overkill. I am leaning towards the Metro but I have some interest in the Imperial models and the Meteor II.

I am having an incredibly hard time deciding which model to go with though. I have recently stumbled upon Tone King amps and am in love. Hey everyone this is my first post so i will make it short and sweet.
